Author Research Project
Mr. Sacramone
You will be writing a short research paper about the life of J.R.R. Tolkien. Your paper will cover his entire life from birth to death, and include the major events in his life and career.
Requirements:
Your paper must be 2 1/2 to 3 pages in length, Times New Roman, size 12 font, double-spaced, blue or black ink (five pages if handwritten).
You must include a bibliography of three or more sources.
You must have a cover sheet. This should include your name, my name, and the title of your report.
The cover sheet and bibliography do not count as part of the three pages.
Organization:
Because you are writing a biography, your research paper should go in chronological order. You will break your information down into three categories. Below are listed suggested topics to include in each section.
Part I. - Childhood/Early Life: Where and when he was born. Parent's education. Important childhood events. Early career and jobs before becoming a writer. Marriage and children.
Part II. - Career: Start of his writing career. Description of his writing style. Famous works. Famous characters he created. Awards won. Success or failures in career. Films or TV shows. Career milestones. Important events in writing career. End of career.
Part III. - Later Years: Late life events. How and when he died. His influence on other writers.
